Draigwen Honey Was a Dream in Caerphilly

It was more than just a Honey Farm

Draigwen Honey was started as an obsession, love and passion for Bees.

It was uncompromised. I loved keeping the Bees. I loved it and then all of a sudden a business grew.

People started buying the Honey. We started to become recognised, we grew more bees. We had more Honey and all of a sudden Draigwen Honey was born in the heart of a small village called Senghenydd. There grew a love of Bees that spanned the whole of South Wales.

We only have Honey in small batches, concentrated in the area that it was from. We never mix Honey.

Honey from our Senghenydd sites stays together. Honey from sites in Cardiff stays together, we select a snapshot of the countryside in a finite time, that's what we do.

I love keeping Bees. I love it, there's nothing quite like the feeling of waking up on a sunny day knowing I get to go and do the Bees today, it’s exceptional.

It's not work. It's a passion that I've got, this passion of Bees.

I want to give that to other people. We sell Nucs so new people can start beekeeping knowing that they get nice, calm Bees, Bees pleasurable to work with, that will give them Honey and they can have enjoyment with.

We offer teaching courses to foster good husbandry skills, we love these creatures, the Honey Bees, we want other people to have the same sort of care that we show towards them ourselves .

It started off just me my daughter's going back and forth the hive. This is a family affair. We all pitch in, during harvest season everybody is involved. It’s a hands on family affair, brothers, sisters ,it doesn't matter everybody's involved.

We hope to be the name for Honey in South Wales when you think about Honey we want you to think about Healthy Bees, Healthy Environment and Draigwen Honey.
