FAQ's
Is Draigwen Honey raw and unpasteurized?
Yes! Our honey is extracted straight from the hive and cold-filtered to remove large wax particles while keeping all the natural pollen and enzymes intact.
Why has my honey turned solid or "cloudy"?
This is a natural process called crystallization. It proves the honey is pure! To make it liquid again, gently warm the jar in a bowl of warm water (not boiling).
How do you ensure the health of your bees?
We follow strict apiary management practices, checking for pests and ensuring our bees have plenty of natural forage in the beautiful Welsh countryside.
How are live bees safely delivered?
We use specialized, ventilated transit boxes and a dedicated courier experienced in handling livestock. You will receive a specific delivery date and tracking information to ensure you are home to welcome your new colony.
What should I wear for a Beekeeping Experience Day?
Please wear sturdy, closed-toe boots (like wellies or hiking boots) and thick socks. We provide the protective bee suits and gloves. Avoid wearing strong perfumes or fleece materials, as these can sometimes agitate the bees.
What happens if I am allergic to bees?
Safety is our priority. If you have a known severe allergy (anaphylaxis), we unfortunately cannot host you for a hive-side experience. For others, we provide full protective gear and a safety briefing before we go near the hives.
What is your cancellation policy for courses?
We offer a full refund for cancellations made at least 14 days before your scheduled date. For shorter notice, we are happy to rebook you onto a future date, subject to availability.
What happens if the weather is bad on my experience day?
Beekeeping is weather-dependent! If heavy rain or high winds make it unsafe to open the hives, we will contact you to reschedule or offer a full refund.
Do you offer gift vouchers, and how long are they valid?
Yes! Our digital gift vouchers are perfect for any occasion. They are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and can be used for honey, bees, or any of our training courses.
