3 Day Beekeeping Training in South Wales - Spring 2027- Dates to be Confirmed

People have been keeping bees for centuries.

Our 3 day beekeeper training course taking place at Cynon Valley Organic Adventures in the South Wales valleys will give you the
skills and the confidence to bee one of those people, to be a beekeeper.

There is nothing like the feeling of the warm breeze, bees flying with purpose and the smell of a thriving bee hive.

Set over three Saturdays during Spring 2027 dates. to be confirmed. You will get the hands on experience needed to become a confident beekeeper

You will be guided through the entire process from beginning to end.

From how to light a smoker and open a hive calmly, through to swarm control, spotting the queen and gathering honey.

Our expert instructors will show you the honeybee as you've never seen it - from egg to honey production powerhouses.

With years of experience and first hand knowledge keeping bees in South Wales you will be set for success and healthy, thriving bees.

What Happens Next

All the details and information will be emailed to you alomg with directions to the training site. A week before we start we will send you a reminder email.

After you arrive we learn a little about the hive itself , then we put on our bee suits and the fun begins!

We provide the Protective Bee Suits all we ask is you bring some clean marigold style gloves and some sensible footwear (Wellie Boots).

Day 1 - You will learn how to handle the bees and learn how to identify all the things inside the hive.

Day 2 - You will learn ways to control swarming and how to check for disease.

Day 3 - You will learn how and when to "super" a colony and methods to increase potential honey production.

Every session you will get the chance to be hands on with the bees and be surrounded by all things beekeeping.

Where is the training taking place?

Each training day will be at Cynnon Valley Organic Adventures

How do i get there?

Head for the post code CF45 4UY. It will take you to Abercynon Sports Centre. Here you can park and follow the signs to the Beekeeper Training. It's a 2 minute walk.

Is there parking?

Yes, parking is available in the Abercynon Sports Centre car park CF45 4UY.

When does it start?

W are planning to start at 12:00 on all three days. If you could arrive 10-15 minutes eary that will be helpful.

How long will the training last?

Each session will be around 2 hours long. Some sessions may run longer.

What should I wear?

Wear normal clothes, we will provide you with protective bee suits. We do ask that you wear or bring clean Wellies and bring a clean pair of marigold type gloves.

What about Perfume?

Please don't wear Perfumes. Bees dont like strong scents.

Can I bring children?

No, unfortunately not. This is an adult training course. We don't have insurance for childreen.

Can i take photos?

Absolutely, go for it. We will be taking some ourselves.

What if it's raining?

Unfortunately we can't predict the weather. If it is raining and it is deemed unsafe to open the hives an alternate date will be offered. We will let you know in advance if a session may be cancelled. More information is in the Terms and Conditions.

Terms and Conditions

Sadly we can't predict or control the weather.

If the weather makes it unsafe to go into the hives then an alternative date for the training will be offered. All those who can not attend the new date will be given the chance to join one of the advanced training day sessions.

If through weather conditions stopping the training days going ahead and a person not being able to attend two of the re arranged days a 70% refund will be given.

 We reserve the right to cancel the training course if there aren't sufficient attendees booked on a course. We require a minimum of 7 bookings . If there aren't enough bookings 7 days before the planned training date, we will cancel the
training and fully refund each customer.

Cancellations

Please note: 30% of your course fee is non-refundable.

If you cancel your place over 30 days before the course date 70% of the cost price will be returned to you. Should you cancel your place under 30 days before the course we are unable to refund your purchase.
